Message: Hi Gail,

I just wanted to tell you how much I love your books. You are definitely one of the best writers of Christian romance. When I buy one of your books, I can't put it down. I usually read it in one evening.

I'm an English teacher of 14 years who specializes in teaching writing. I also love writing fiction for fun. I've never attempted to publish any of my work before, but I've been praying about it and feel called to do so. Do you have any advice for an unpublished writer who really wants to use the spiritual gift of writing to witness to others about Jesus' love?

Should I seek an agent first or try to submit to Steeple Hill on my own? My first complete novel fits the criteria for Love Inspired.

Thank you so much for any suggestions!

God bless,
Tina

Message: I just read a supposedly-Christian book (not from your publishers) that I trashed the day after I finished it. (I wouldn't want my grandchildren reading it!) The main character got drunk and almost slept with a stranger she met while intoxicated. There was no mention of God or Jesus, and, while there was no lustful descriptions of the incident, I was left with an empty feeling as the book concluded.

As a contrast, I just finished "A Donut a Day" and was inspired to walk closer to my Lord as a result. I've been spending too much time with trivial pursuits (online Sudoku, for one) that, while not bad in themselves, have decreased my time with Him. Your paragraph p. 110 "...are you doing good deeds just because it feels good to do them, or because Jesus wants you to, even if they are hard to do or cost you something?" was the spark that caught me! I want Him back to first place in my life!

Gail, you're my favorite author. I love your humor, and can hardly wait to pick up any book written by you. I've collected 17 titles so far...

Lord bless you richly!

I am a sucker for a good romance without all of the steamy lust sex, etc. The fact that it includes God and how he brought 2 people together makes it even better. Also I met my husband on December 20th and we became engaged on December 21st a year later. December romances are even better.
My husband & I were a blind date. I kissed him under the mistletoe first and 35 years later we are still happily married. Thanks for a great Christmas, Christian romance!

Message: I enjoy reading your books and am currently reading "His Uptown Girl", however I am upset by the way you have been critical of what you call "solemn church" "churches with pews", etc. I enjoy going to that type of church and I personally feel that I am receiving a worshipful experience through the traditional hymns and the services. I think that God wants us to dress our best and come with the attitude that we are to worship and serve him not to be entertained as if we were going to a concert. I don't have a problem with contempory churches if they are doing God's will but at the same time, I have noticed that many of our young people who attend these services do not know what it really means to serve God. There are a lot of good traditional churches who are thriving for God. Please do not be critical just because you do not share the same type of worship ideas. I do have one question. What if your main character was a person who loved to dress to the "nines"? Would the community church laugh her out as well the man? Is there a difference between a traditional church being critical of someone wearing shorts and a traditional laughing at you because your "girl" is dressed to the nines. I'm sorry to be long winded but I watched some people split a traditional church and start their community church. I also know these people personally and entertainment is the name of their game not serving God. I just ask that when you write, that you remember that not everyone in your audience is contempory. I will continue to read because you are a good author but I felt it was time that I stood up for my beliefs. I am in my forties so I am neither young nor old but I do work with high school students and I have a lot of elderly friends. Please respect the rights of people who worship differently from you as I will respect the right of those who worship differently from me. Thank you,
Ann Bottoms

TO MS. BOTTOMS AND ANY OTHER READERS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN THIS POST - I did not mean to imply in His Uptown Girl, or any book, that one worship service format, ie, formal vs casual, is in any way wrong or better. In the setting of this book, and with the characters involved, this is simply their choice, and what works best for them, as Christians seeking a place to worship God that is meaningful to them individually. In real life, there are always extremes, and people who are judgmental, and I am sorry that you, Ms. Bottoms, have been affected by that. I play bass guitar in the worship team in my own church, and speaking for myself, as well as the other members of my team, we are there to use our talents to worship God, and bring others into that same heart of worship with us. I, too, am in my forties, and I have experienced extremes on both ends of the worship spectrum of casual vs formal. I believe God is pleased with His children in both settings, and everything in between, when the heart of the believer is in the right place, as I am sure yours is, and so is mine. God bless you, Ms. Bottoms, and I look forward to meeting you one day in God's kingdom and sharing a hug where we can continue to worship God together.
We're all saved by God's Grace.
God bless
Gail Sattler

Message: Hello from East Coast Canada. I live in a small community north west of Moncton, New Brunswick and have lived here all of my life. My husband of 40 years doesn't mind adding book shelves because you see I have a book on the go at all times. I have been reading romance books since I was a teenager(many moons ago) and I really love the Love Inspired ones. It is so wonderful to stop at any book shelf in almost any store and be able to pick them up. The message of Gods love can sure go out with these great stories. I share mine with my 88 year old mother who loves them and then pass them on to others. We have just finished reading Head Over Heels and thought the element of mystery was great. I have also read Vancouver and having been able to visit there a couple of times liked it too. I really appreciate stories with Canadian settings and there are not nearly enough of them. Thanks, God bless & keep up the great reads!!!

Message: Changing Her Heart was hard for me to read. I have a brother who is an alcoholic. He was sober for a short time when his job was threatened but since is back to drinking daily. He is still able to function and no one would know he drinks nightly. The first time I read your book was right after it came out. I just reread it today from a different prospective. Ever hear of FAA? Its Food Addicts Anonymous. See my drug of choice is not alchol but food so I am no better than my brother except in this last month I have jioned FAA and w/ God love and help I hope to conquer this. Their web site is www.foodaddicts.org. if you are interested. This group is run by AA's 12 steps and Big Book and it includes NO SUGAR OR FLOUR, EVER!!!! This might make a good story by-line if you shoukd decide to do a 'Women of Praise' series. In Christian love, Olive. PS its okay to print this if you choose as I only signed my first name.

Message: Hey I've just read your book Changing Her Heart. It was a really great book. I love to read period, especially anything with romance in, but it is hard to find a good clean interesting book which your book was. I loved everything about. I sayed up late at night because I couldn't put it down. When I got to the end I was screaming and crying ,which my brother who was trying to go to sleep didn't appreciate. Anyway I just wanted to thank you . I look forward to reading your other books, old and new.You will be in my prayers.

Message: I just finished readin one of your books and I absolutely loved it!!!! It's titled "His Uptown Girl". I bought it at a used book store, like I do most of my books, and loved it so much that I called another used book store to see if they had any more books by you. They said they have one more, so I'm gonna go get it today!

I loved the story of Bob and "George". And I refuse to let go of this copy. I never re-read my books twice. This one....I will.

Thank you so much!

God's blessings on ya, sugar! Keep it up!

Message: Hi Mrs. Gail,i'm Ashley and i'm 13.I was visiting with my grandma and i asked her i i could read a book and she has a room just for books and i looked at all the books but the main one that caught my eye was the orange and red book ont the shelf that said Changing Her Heart by Gail Sattler.Well i started to read the book and didn't put it down till i finished it.That is the best book i'v ever read, and i usually cant find the time to real or just not want to read because i didnt like it,but you are an amaizing writer and i would set a side as much time as i want to read any and all of your books.Your book has inspired me so much that i want to try writing my own book and get it published just like you did. Most books i read for school are not very realistic but your book is while i read that book i actually felt like i was living through and it was an amaizing feeling and i would do anything to feel that way again.tHANKS FOR BEING AN AWESOME WRITER!!! Smile

Message: I looooove your books!!!!! I'm collecting them as fast as I can and I've loved every one that I've read. I just finished A DONUT A DAY and....wow! Once again, awesome story line and heart-stopping romance with focus on Christ.

I'm looking forward to Head Over Heels coming out as that series is just as wonderful as your Vancouver series. (Loved how ADAD also mentions characters from the Vancouver series--even though they never talk in the book. Love it! LOL)

Message: I LOVE your writing! I first read VANCOUVER and was entranced with "On the Road Again" with the premise being driving a semi! Recently, I borrowed this book from my mom just so I could read it again and then decided to look up any other books you've written.

Any of your titles I can get my hands on, I am requesting and I haven't found anything of yours that I haven't loved yet. I can't believe you aren't up there with Lori Wick and the others because, in my opinion, your writing is just as good. I collect her books and I'm collecting yours--that means you must be great in my eyes. ;-)

Thank you for writing wonderful christian stories with great story lines and believable characters!
